The Walsenburg Jr./Sr. High School Outdoor Education Elective and Outdoor Club's primary goal is to remove financial barriers and connect students with Colorado's public lands by fostering a love of and respect for our natural resources. We endeavor to partner with state and local organizations, such as Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Lathrop State Park, Panadero Ski Corporation, and Huerfano Youth Conservation Corps, to provide students with recreational, educational, and career opportunities in Colorado’s great outdoors. Additionally, we plan multiple field trips throughout the year, including annual skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking trips. Our classroom materials, gear, and trips are generously funded through the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Outdoor Equity Grant.
